When you hire me, you will get an intelligent, funny hard-working guy with abilities and experience in design, social media, and web communications.
I am very interested in semantic and intuitive front end web development. I have experience creating and managing websites and designing and implementing mass-email campaigns. I enjoy reading about and keeping up with the latest ever-evolving web trends. I don’t know everything, but I’m happy to learn.
I am also a seasoned graphic designer and an excellent writer. You can find a list of skills and a sample of my work below.
Eileen Pollack, VP of Communications & Public Relations, May Institute“He is thorough, intelligent, creative, patient, responsive, and collaborative.”
I have skills in the following programming languages and applications: XHTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery, PHP, Ajax, XML, Adobe software (including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks), Microsoft software (including Word, Excel, Powerpoint), QuarkXpress
I am currently learning HTML5 and CSS3, and how to design for mobile platforms.
I was the Web Content Coordinator and Graphic Design Associate at May Institute, February 2009 - January 2012
My primary job was to maintain the websites of May Institute and the National Autism Center. I generated content, updated information, and worked with the web developer (NeptuneWeb) to make sure the sites were working optimally for both users and employees. I also made the website for the HIRE vocational rehabilitation program. I created and/or edited all web graphics and photos. I pushed forward many social media initiatives and designed several successful mass-email marketing and public awareness campaigns using the Convio platform. I closely monitored the statistics of all sites and implemented changes to improve viewership. Web traffic increased dramatically as a result of my work.
During my time with May Institute, I served as a key member of a multiple-award-winning Communications and Public Relations team. In 2010, our “What Does Autism Look Like?” Public Awareness Campaign won a NESHco Lamplighter Gold and a Publicity Club of New England Bell Ringer Bronze. Also in 2010, our Launch of the National Standards Project and the International Dissemination of the National Standards Report received an Excellence in Communications award from the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network. I was also part of the team that won Bellringer gold in 2011 for the article, “Learning Each Other’s Language” featured in Autism Society of America’s Autism Advocate magazine.
Another important aspect of my job was to work closely with our head designer on the design, layout, revision, creation, and printing of many collateral pieces, including booklets, pamphlets, brochures, posters, mailings, and flyers. Here are a few examples.
